The Rivers State police command has arrested two persons in connection with the cult-related clashes that led to the death of about 15 people in Omoku, headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area of the state.

This is as Governor Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike, yesterday banned the operation of commercial motorcyclists in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni and three other local government areas in the state for security reasons.

Police public relations officer (PPRO) in the state, Ahmad Kadiya Muhammad, in a short message service (SMS) to LEADERSHIP in Port Harcourt yesterday, said the suspects, Chimezie Ordu and Ikwudili Wordu, were currently undergoing interrogation at the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID).

The SMS reads, “Sequel to my response on the last night’s incident at Omoku, the Command has for now arrested the duo of Chimezie Ordu and Ikwudili Wordu. They are now undergoing interrogation at the State CID.”

Meanwhile, Wike, in a statement issued Saturday night by his special assistant on electronic media, Simeon Nwakaudu, said other local government areas affected by the ban, which would be between 5:00pm and 8:00am, are Abua/Odual, Ahoada-East and Ahoada-West.
