Bayelsa Assembly: Disquiet As Female Legislator Files Suit Against Sack

The Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has decided to hear the appeal filed by the female member of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Ms. Naomi Ogoli against the December 9 ruling which invalidated her election victory and declared the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Gabriel Ogbara as winner of the Assembly election.

The suit, which was filed by the sacked PDP member is seeking the court to reverse itself on the ruling on the ordered re-run election in ward 6 of the Ogbia constituency 3.

The decision by Ogoli followed a similar action by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly to appeal his sack by the same court.

Already, the troubled members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and members of the Civil Society Groups led by the Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) have raised serious objections against the alleged plot by the PDP and the State House of Assembly to disobey the court order on the December 9 ruling of the Court of Appeal.
