The minister for information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has said that inspite of the recent attacks on soft targets by Boko Haram insurgents, there is no resurgence of the sect.
He insisted that the terrorist group remains largely decimated, dispersed and disoriented.
Speaking during a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, Mohammed condemned the recent attacks by Boko Haram and commiserated with the families of those who were killed.
The minister also appealed for caution in the comments being made over the attacks so as not to encourage the insurgents.
He said that anyone who is conversant with the ebb and flow of insurgency will not be surprised by the attacks.
‘‘The terrorists remain massively degraded and largely defeated. The recent string of attacks is not an indication that Boko Haram is bouncing back.
‘’During the immediate period after an insurgency has been degraded, the fact that terrorists are dispersed into the community is often followed by an upsurge of terror attacks in the form of suicide bombing and sabotage of critical facilities. Activities during these period are often carried out within population.”
