FG Starts Verification on Claims of Money Spent on Federal Roads by States

Arrangements have been concluded by the federal govern­ment to begin the verifica­tion and probe on claims of money spent on federal roads by the various state governments. The Minis­ter for Works, Power and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, has disclosed.
Fashola, who spoke in Ilorin said President Mu­hammadu Buhari has put in place an inter-ministeri­al committee to commence the exercise in earnest in furtherance of his anti-cor­ruption crusade.
He added that the fed­eral government has com­menced verification of fed­eral roads constructed by Kwara State Government for reimbursement, assur­ing that it would reimburse the state and other states of the federation once their claims were verified.
According to him, “The federal government has identified Jebba – Ilorin road as one of the most strategic economic corri­dors in Nigeria that require urgent attention. Frantic efforts was been made to restore normalcy to the road in view of its strategic economic nature.
