Lagos Set To Begin Implementation Of Master Plan

The Lagos State Government has said it has concluded plans to implement its new Master Plan In Badagry area of the state.

Speaking at a Stakeholders’ Forum held in Badagry Town Hall the state’s, Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development,Mr. Wasiu Anifowoshe said the success of the plan would largely be determined by the level of corporation shown by the resident.

According to him, the present administration plans to turn the axis to a haven for commercial activities through the already designed plan.

He said embracing a proper developmental plan would make the axis withstand future migration of people and businesses across the state to the area.

The Commissioner, who sought the support of residents of the area in the current projects being executed by the government which include the light rail noted that the project would bring about rapid development of people to the area with influx of more resident along the axis.

He said, “Let me however state at this juncture that government’s achievements depends largely on the total cooperation of the people. Everyone must therefore be Progressive and embrace positive change.”

Harping on the bureaucratic bottleneck often experience by the residents in getting planning permit, Anifowoshe said that the process is not difficult if relevant documents are presented on time to the agency.

He added that government has moved a step further to introduce E-planning as a way of easing the submission of building drawings electronically.

Anifowoshe assured residents that the Ministry was already meeting on modalities and consideration that could be given to people who have erected their buildings already but want to have government permit document.

Also speaking , the General Manager of Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority, Olutoyin Abdul, a town planner, said that government was planning to avoid haphazard development, create more employment opportunities and increase the value properties in a way that would encourage commercial and industrial development.
