Africa heavyweight Pro wrestling champion, Nigeria’s Godspower Peace Ikpide, popularly known as “De Great Power Lee’ says he looking forward to his fight against his challenger from Angola, Marvelous Buffalo, next month.
Power Lee will defend the title he won last year in Yaounde, Cameroun next month in what has been tagged ‘Battle of Asaba.’
A native of Owhe in Isoko North local government area of Delta State, Power Lee made Nigerians proud on September 19, when he defeated Michel Noudem of Cameroun in front of his home fans at the Palais De Sports Centre in Yaounde to win the title.
The fight in Asaba will also attract professional wrestlers from Egypt, Congo DR, Cameroun, Ghana and Benin Republic, with international officials expected from the Pro Wrestling body in Glasgow, Scotland. The fight is expected to take place in the Indoor Sports Hall, Asaba, in the first week of March.
Power Lee held a meeting with officials of Delta Sports Commission yesterday on arrangement for the fight.
“Everything is on course,” he told The Guardian. “The government and people of Delta State are looking forward for the great day and I have promised never to let them down.”
Delta State government is putting things in place for a hitch free event.
Power Lee has been Nigeria heavyweight pro wrestling title holder since December 2010, beating all those that came his way.
