LEADERSHIP of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday urged Nigerians to stop addressing its chairman Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as acting chairman. The party said the appointment was a substantive one.
The main opposition party on Tuesday appointed former Borno State governor, Sheriff as its chairman during its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja.
But, the appointment has pitched members of the party against one another with both the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the party and about 70 members of the House of Representatives kicking against the emergence of the new chairman.
National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh, in a press statement said the appointment was substantive.
“The PDP wishes to draw the attention of the media and members of the public that His Excellency, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff is substantive and not acting National Chairman of the PDP as being erroneously rendered by a section of the media”
