..Mark Dared God by Forcefully Taking Mandate – Onjeh
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, as winner of the February 20th Benue South Senatorial District re-run election.
Recall that the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Daniel Onjeh had faulted the reelection of Mark in the last April 2015 senatorial polls.
Onjeh petitioned the emergency of Mark and prayed the court to order for a fresh poll.
The INEC returning officer, Prof. Ishaku Enigi announced that Mark defeated Onjeh in an election that was conducted across the 9 local government areas of the senatorial district.
Enigi declared that Mark polled a total of 84, 192 votes while his main opponent, Onjeh scored 71, 621 votes.

Speaking to newsmen, Mark described his victory as will of the people and said the overwhelming voting was borne out of the trust the people have in him. He assured that he would impact the rapid development desired by the people.
However, the APC candidate, Onjeh in an interview with LEADERSHIP today described the election as very fraudulent, saying it was marred by violence and ballot electoral materials snatching by armed members of the opposition PDP.
“I consider Mark’s victory as fraudulent and robbery on the peoples mandate because there was evident cases of violence and electoral materials snatching by the PDP thugs. I am happy I defeated him (Mark) and he knows that I defeated him glaringly. I will consult with my party but surely, having Mark forcefully taking what belongs to me, he has dared God and election petition tribunal is the answer.” Onjeh.
