Ayade pays February salary 10 days to month end

IN keeping with his promise to pay civil servants’ monthly salaries promptly, Cross River Governor, Ben Ayade, last Friday paid February salary to workers in the state.
In December 2015, salaries of workers were paid on the 15th of the month and last month’s salary equally paid on the same date.
This prompted some civil servants to suggest that salary should be paid on the 25th of each month as promised by the governor, instead of 15th which they said was too early.
The governor thought otherwise. He felt that jumping from 15th to 25th was going to have a negative effect on civil servants.
Based on this, February salary was paid on the 19th with the hope that the shift would be gradual until the 25th payment date is restored.
On assumption of office last year, Ayade promised to pay salary of workers between 25th and 26th of each month.
Applauding the governor’s early payment of salaries, Chairman of Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Paddy Ally, said the governor’s ability to pay workers before the end of every month, at a time most states find it difficult to pay salaries, is no small feat.
“Cross Riverians are no fools. We know the difference between night and day, truth and falsehood. One way Governor Ayade will effortlessly hamstring the surreptitious evil plot of the ‘rebels’ is to continue with his good works.
“A good striker is always an envy of the opponents in the field of play. Distraction is one of the strongest strategies of the foes. God and the good people of Cross River State shall vindicate the governor. “
Also commending the governor for his commitment to workers’ welfare, Eyo Nsa, a staff of Calabar Urban Development Authority (CUDA) and Cecilia Eto, a teacher, who mirrored the sentiments of workers in the state, said the governor is a great man and his welfare policy to workers is second to none.
They charged other governors to learn from Ayade.
